Angelo Heilprin Papers: Expedition to Yucatan and Mexico

Scope and Contents This expedition, the first official one of the Academy, included J. E. Ives, Roberts LeBoutillier, Witmer Stone and Frank C. Baker in the party. Scope and Contents

The collection consists of photographic prints of the creation of taxidermied gorillas which were collected by the 1934 George Vanderbilt Expedition to Western Africa. The collection includes correspondence with the taxidermists, John Jonas and Louis Jonas (Jonas Brothers Studios), memoranda, and photographs of the mounting of specimens and the diorama.

J. Percy Moore papers

Overview John Percy Moore (1869-1965) was a Professor of Zoology at the University of Pennsylvania from 1912 to 1939, an Assistant Curator at the Academy of Natural Sciences from 1902 to 1938, and held several positions between 1920 and 1956 at the Ludwick Institute, which offered free lectures and courses in the natural sciences. Scope and Contents

These photographs are mounted on heavy boards 30 x 23 cm. The pictures include photographs of personnel, activities of the party on water, land and ice, their ship, their longboats, their dogs and the animals seen in Antarctica. Many others pertain to the topography of the area, to icebergs, ice floes and glaciers.
